Underwater Inspection Services

Navigation Engineering Services Ltd provides a mobile, fast, low cost method to inspect underwater structures.

We use an AC-Cess ROV system, the smallest ROV capable of "flying" through an opening as small as 190mm in diameter. The system uses no chemical or synthetic lubricants, in fact the water itself is the lubricant for the "thrusters" . The body of the ROV is made wholly of an inert plastic which makes the ROV safe for use in public water supply areas.

The ROV has six thrusters which are unique in themselves, in as much as they do not run on a central spindle in fact there is no spindle at all, allowing an almost weed free operation and almost no possibility of clogging up with weed or debris found underwater.

The system allows fast access to water courses or enclosed water filled areas to provide a safe method of inspecting the insides of these structures without placing a person in harms way.

The most application found in recent times is in security and anti terrorism. Where a ship or boat can have its hull quickly inspected for terror devices attached or in anti drug enforcement.

The system is so portable it is housed in its basic form in a transit case weighing 20kg and can be carried on most modes of transport around the world by the operator. This one person operation allows for a fast and very economical method of under water inspection never seen before.

The UK based system consists of a van, operator/driver, ROV and recording devices such as a "black box" VCR a client rocord/copy VCR and /or a dvd recorder. This system is available at short notice to travel to a job site and complete the task.

Navigation Engineering Services Ltd operates this service along with other remote systems currently in development. These systems will quickly calculate the volume of lakes and inshore water ways and provide a "picture" or shape of the bed of the water way, very suitable for a fast pre and post dredge survey of harbours and esturies. It is possible that these systems will be used together to provide a "Complete" service to survey and inspect water areas.
